Fluorescent and neon-lit pylon signs, monument signs, and illuminated cabinet signs have a reliability problem: cold Alberta winters shorten fluorescent lamp life, and every burnt-out tube means a service call up a ladder or a lift rental. This collection covers LED signage tubes and T8/T5 hybrid retrofit tubes built to solve exactly that.
Double-sided signage tubes are sized to match your existing fluorescent tube length (18" up to 96"+), with 6500K daylight output and 360° beam angle to evenly illuminate a double-sided sign face from a center-mounted tube. Hybrid T8 tubes offer both plug-and-play (Type A, works with existing ballast) and direct-wire (Type B, bypasses ballast) installation, so the same tube works whether you want a quick swap now or a full ballast-bypass retrofit later.
All tubes are rated for 100-347V input, DLC and cULus certified where applicable, and typically rated at 130 lm/W efficacy — meaningfully higher than the fluorescent tubes they replace, which cuts both energy use and the frequency of maintenance visits.
Do I need to remove the ballast? Type A hybrid tubes work with your existing ballast (fastest install, no rewiring); Type B tubes bypass the ballast entirely for slightly better efficiency and eliminate a future ballast failure point. Both options are stocked in this collection so you can choose based on your timeline and preference.
How long do LED signage tubes last compared to fluorescent? LED tubes typically run 5-10x longer than fluorescent equivalents and don't suffer the cold-weather startup flicker and reduced lifespan that fluorescent tubes experience through Alberta winters — a meaningful maintenance-cost reduction for sign owners over a multi-year period.
For general commercial fluorescent tube retrofits outside of signage applications, our Warehouse & Industrial and Commercial Office & Retail collections cover linear strip and panel replacements.
