Not every linear fixture that looks sealed actually is. Vapor tight lights carry a gasket-sealed, IP66-rated housing built specifically for direct water contact, steam, and washdown — a different spec from a standard linear strip light, which is designed for dry indoor use only. This collection covers 2'-8' vapor tight fixtures from 12W-95W.
Match fixture length to your existing fluorescent vapor tight if you're doing a direct retrofit (2', 4', 5', and 8' options are available), and choose sensor-equipped models for intermittently-occupied spaces like walk-in coolers or mechanical rooms where you don't need light running 24/7. Wattage scales roughly with length — a 4' fixture runs 35-48W, an 8' fixture runs 55-95W — with most options offering switchable colour temperature from 4000K-6500K.
Every fixture in this collection is IP66-rated, meaning it's protected against powerful water jets from any direction — the correct spec anywhere the Canadian Electrical Code requires a "wet location" fixture rating, not just damp-rated. This is a meaningfully higher standard than the canopy or wraparound fixtures in our Parking Garage & Canopy Lighting collection.
Is a "damp-rated" fixture the same as vapor tight? No — damp-rated fixtures handle humidity and occasional splashing but aren't sealed against direct water contact. If the space involves hosing down, standing water, or steam, you need a true IP66 vapor tight fixture like the ones in this collection.
Can vapor tight fixtures go in a walk-in freezer? Yes, provided the fixture's operating temperature range covers your freezer's setpoint — ask us to confirm the cold-temperature rating for the specific model you're considering.
